"Make visible that without you might never have been seen."
This is probably my favorite art quote. It not only encourages creativity but also speaks about the uniqueness of what every person brings into this world.
My vision is influenced by my complete astonishment of my surroundings.
Montana displays the moods of the seasons in the breath of its sky down to the rocks being washed in the river. The cold of the snow can be frightening in its intensity and then playful as it sparkles in the sunshine. My hometown of Butte which is in the Rocky Mountains, has a springtime that is tired and dirty. Crusty stale snow that stays so long I become anxious and then appreciative of the stronger more colorful seasons. The spring teaches me each year that the light and the beauty shouldn't be taken for granted because it is so fleeting. These are the images I try to convey in my art. A personal moment that has a simple story, but one I want to share.
Paint me a picture of the landscape.
Dance me the dance of the waves.
Sing me of the legends of the river.
Tell me the story of the sky.

Currently I work as a medical librarian at St. James Healthcare. Someday soon I hope to begin a second career as a full-time artist. My family includes three grown children who are all living in Montana, and dogs, cats, and horses and a darling grandson.
I'm a member of the Main Stope Art Gallery which is a co-op gallery that has been in existence for over 20 continuous years. It has flourished because the artists are talented and they are nice people that are good to each other. I'm proud to be part of the group.
There are other places and people I look to for inspiration, but it would probably be lost in translation if I tried to explain them. (these type that need to be experienced).
My favorite artist is Brent Cotton. I've had the honor and privilege of meeting him and watching him paint. And still I can't grasp how he does it <smile>. Nevertheless he gives me a real sense of what a professional artist is and how much room there is for me to grow. Holy cow, he is good! Plus he is a wonderful, generous (think of 6 more superlatives) and you get the picture (pun intended) <smile>.
